You remember that discussion about Tropic Thunder award nominations a few pages back.....

    From the golden globes noms:

    SUPPORTING ACTOR
    Tom Cruise - "Tropic Thunder"
Robert Downey Jr. - "Tropic Thunder"

    Ralph Fiennes - "The Duchess"
    Philip Seymour Hoffman - "Doubt"
Heath Ledger - "The Dark Knight"

    Shocked

and on an aside, if NPH doesn't win against this this lot, there is no justice.....

PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
Neil Patrick Harris - "How I Met Your Mother"
    Denis Leary - "Recount"
    Jeremy Piven - "Entourage"
    Blair Underwood - "In Treatment"
    Tom Wilkinson - "John Adams"

Yeah, but you just know that they're gonna give the Best Supporting Actor award to Heath Ledger though.

I saw Twilight the other day...what a fucking awful film.
Annoying camera work, crappy dialouge........definitely made for teenage girls.

A lot of it was filmed in my home town, so it was funny seeing it up there o nthe big screen...but really...shit movie.

    Frost/Nixon

Very good. Never would've thought a movie about an interview could be so compelling. Langella is excellent in the movie.

    Milk

This was spectacular in my opinion. I have never liked any Gus Van Sant movies until now. Penn is phenomenal in this too.

    Gran Torino

Loved it. Kinda feels like an unofficial conclusion to the Dirty Harry movies. As always Eastwood is simply awesome in it.

    Somers Town

Great, though I was expecting a little more. I think an extra 20 minutes to give it a stronger conclusion would have been good, but overall I liked it a lot. That being said I'm a huge Shane Meadows mark so I was going to love it anyway...

Let the right one come in

Very good though it was the opposite of what I expected so I think a second viewing maybe necessary for me. Definately the most original vampire film I've ever seen. And of course a hollywood remake has been commissioned already...

    The Wrestler

Incredible. The most truthful depiction of the life of an old has been wrestler. Depressing as fuck but its true to the core. Mickey Rourke will likely never top his performance in this movie.

    Slumdog Millionaire

Was curious to see this Danny Boyle film after Empire magazine gave it five stars and it's already ranked #68 on IMDb. It was okay - not as great as I thought it would be. Not a film I'd watch again.

I thought it was excellent. The end was a little bit cheesy for my liking but I thought it was great overall. That being said I'm very biased toward Danny Boyle.

Transformers (2007 version) - still love it, cos it's Transformers. However on the second viewing I felt kinda upset that Welker wasn't playing Megatron. I love Hugo Weaving but Welker's part of my childhood... difficult to let go.

I didn't mind that too much since Megatron doesn't really have that big a part vocally in the film, they managed to get away with that in my opinion. And if Welker's voice really was as bad as they said it was, he could have ended up spoiling the part.

What was wrong with Welker's voice other than it not being what Bay wanted? Was it just too aged or something?

    This would've been hella cool:
