Its hardly like Hugo Weaving is a bad actor, it doesnt take away from the film. Theres plenty of things that do though.

Bay thought that Welker's voice was too soft and aged to portray Megatron in his film, and felt it would be disrespectful to ask him to change the voice.

Re: Film's you've seen today
Just watched it, and I have lined myself up the gazza documentary to follow it with so come 11:00 I should be pretty depressed!Outlaw2x4 wrote:The Wrestler
Incredible. The most truthful depiction of the life of an old has been wrestler. Depressing as fuck but its true to the core. Mickey Rourke will likely never top his performance in this movie.
Who ever made the film must be a very serious fan as it was bang on the money. CZW, ROH and a host of real life wrestlers featured in the film which really adds to the realism in my opinion.
I agree that Mickey Rourke will never top that performance, definitely should get a oscar nomination at the very least, I love the head scissors he pulled off!
The only bad bit in my view was the ending, but this is down to my personal taste, I think most people will think it was done well.

Re: Film's you've seen today
The Gazza documentary was a tad depressing
I hate seeing Gazza like that.
I want Rangers to get him in and around the lads at training and get him him involved. Having Walter and Ally around him will do him wonders I feel. (Probably not for this thread but you mentioned it)

Nobody likes PeteRoe.
It's a wonderful story where the titular character posts on a resurrected wrestling forum only to be met with ridicule, sarcasm and people mocking and correcting his posts. ****½
On topic: I, too, also watched The Wrestler (albeit yesterday, not today) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed the match against Necro Butcher and was impressed by the moves he managed to pull off in the final match at the ROH show. I would have liked to see the film go on slightly longer where they could have featured more actual wrestling (even if it was two people besides Ayatollah and Randy the Ram).

That would have been great for wrestling fans but what about everyone else watching the film? Anymore than the three matches featured probably would have people walking out. Even the rocky movies never had more than three fights.

Re: Film's you've seen today
I dont care if anyone likes me or dislikes me. At least I contribute to this forum.
It is a great place to chat about wrestling and other things. I am entitled to an opinion and yes, I might not put it across all that well sometimes. People dont have to agree or disagree on here and thats cool. I respect their opinion and I am sure they will mine.
Anyways...take it to the asylum now as we are gonna ruin this thread. Sorry guys. You cant this off and put it somewhere else if you may.

I watched Anchorman the other night for the first time. Loved it a lot. Not a big fan of Will Ferrel but he is funny as hell in this. Worthy of my mates hype.

I suppose you're right, I still feel it lacked something on the wrestling side of things though.
Also, in hindsight, I suppose that showing other people wrestling would have made the final match seem pretty crappy.

Garden State- thought it was pretty good for a directorial debut from Zach Braff but then he didnt really do anything mindblowing did he?
Dresden- was about the city of Dresden and the air raids that basically turned the city to rubble in the latter days of WW2 i actually enjoyed this more than the above. I like to feel like im learning sometimes........

American Gangster - Fantastic Film. Denzel was sensational, Russell Crowe was subtle but also very good. Highly recomended if you haven't already seen it.

Re: Film's you've seen today
30 Days of Night- I really liked it and thought it was one of the better horrors i had seen in a long time right up untill the last 10 minutes which soured it for me
I had a little bout of insomnia last night so i tried to watch Frost/Nixon but the internet conspired against me as the movie cut out after an hour and i couldnt get a decent version anywhere. I really liked what i saw though, Michael Sheen was brilliant, may just have to go to the cinema to catch the rest of it!

Re: Film's you've seen today
I saw the trailer a while back & was intrigued by it, but then the reviews put me off going to see it. Should I go to the cinema to see this or wait for the DVD release do you reckon?IOV wrote:IOV wrote:I had a little bout of insomnia last night so i tried to watch Frost/Nixon but the internet conspired against me as the movie cut out after an hour and i couldnt get a decent version anywhere. The Wrestler. Excellent. Except for the dickhead sitting in the row behind who couldn't wait till after the film to give his analysis of it to his girlfriend. Prick.
