Re: Official Premiership Thread
Shay Given has once again said he will not leave Newcastle with plenty of clubs ready to bid for him (Spurs mentioned in particular.)
Why is it you just don't get loyalty like that anymore? Had he moved to one of the big four I think people would be saying his name in the same breath as Schmeichel and Cech... but he's put loyalty above furthering his career, once again.
Good for him.

Re: Official Premiership Thread
For once i agree with you, we all know he's always among the top keepers in the Premiership and has been for years but while playing for Newcastle he hasnt really been able to match himself against the best in Europe
Trappatoni has been bigging him up to a few Italian teams but maybe he is afraid to come out of his comfort zone?
He's always great for Ireland as well ands he actually was born and raised down the road from where i live i worked with his cousin for ages

The writing was on the wall for Keane for a while, he made it obvious he didnt need the job that much earlier in the season when he said he would walk away after getting booed by the fans
Dont think this will be the last we see of him but he probably will take a break fo a while

Evra has been banned for 4 matchs after the punch up at Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, I cant see Fergie being too happy with that!
Its a ridiculous amount of time to come up with a decision Id actually forgotten about it but you do the crime you do the time
Chelsea came out of it ok just a £25, 000 fine

Re: Official Premiership Thread
Just got home from the match and can I just say that I am disgusted with the fans who booed Eboue off. Yes he hadn't had a good game but he was forced to play Nasri's role (two more different players you couldn't get) and we were winning the game. There was no need for it.
Denilson and Van Persie didn't exactly set the place on fire either but didn't see either of them getting booed.

The facts are he's spent about £80M, he signed about ten strikers, he's had one of the biggest squads in the league & he's also got a dozen+ players out on loan.
There's no doubt he was a great player, but I'm glad he's gone.

Re: Official Premiership Thread
Is Fat Sam that much of a spiteful chap to take the Sunderland job in order to have a dig at the barcodes I wonder? Or simply just lazy hacks putting two and two together because he might fancy a job back in football (obviously the more likely option).
If Keane returns to management in the short term he needs to show he can manage on a budget and stick it out through tough patches. It's always so much easier to just walk away, and with his Ireland exploits (surprised that wasn't dragged back up unless I missed it...again) he needs to show he can stick it out through thick and thin. If not he might as well stick to Footy Manager '09. I do like the way he quit before the Manure game mind; refusing to let Fergie get in a giggle at his expense.
On Mr Eboue, the treatment of him was absolutely awful, but I hate the way yet again that media have tainted something as being participated in by everyone at The Grove rather than the idiotic number that did partake in it. Where I was sat more people were concerned by getting to the train station early then even acknowledging Eboue was playing, which is pathetic in itself. The problem that lies here is that this 10,000 to 15,000 that did boo Emmanuel could have targeted any of a selection of players as you mentioned JK. As has been mentioned before, it is this mentality that not only do these numpties feel we have a god given right to show up and win games, we also have to play better than the Harlem Globetrotters and probably also solve global warming while we are at it. I'm not defending the performance, and no way in hell am I going to defend the prices of tickets etc (where frustrations obviously arose); but when you have so called 'fans' jeering the team, leaving early yet still expecting the world in return it just leaves a sour taste and just helps to defend the angst from other fans shown our way. Victoria Concordia Crescit, 'Victory Through Harmony'...time to show it me thinks.

Rosicky out till March at the earliest.
That is piss taking of Darren Anderton proportions... how can he be the new Pires (as he was touted) when he can't sneeze without tearing something.

Good news on another front however, Eduardo is due to start playing with the reserves later this month.

Well, if you take away the 0 then you're right. It's two teams (Ilkeston town & Man Utd).IOV wrote:The Chosen1 wrote:Keane could of done with someone to help him with transfers.IOV wrote:The writing was on the wall for Keane for a while, he made it obvious he didnt need the job that much earlier in the season when he said he would walk away after getting booed by the fans

I already stated above some of the facts/reasons why I'm glad Keane's gone. Whoever takes over from him will have one hell of a clear out of players.
But I have to say, I don't like how 'Big Sam' is 'touting' himself about & I hope he doesn't get the job.

FFS. When Aliadiere was playing for us he'd never have scored that. He'd have kicked it into the stand, fallen over, ripped every tendon in his leg and spent 9 months in the recovery room.

Hardly shameful it was a half arsed kick but a kick none the less, I've seen Keane, Viera, Gerrard and even Shearer and Bergkamp do worse than that through the years
He needs to cut out these little tantrums
Disapointed with the draw today I thought if United could have taken it into the next level Spurs were there for the taking but we lose that gear when Rooney isnt playing

Re: Official Premiership Thread
We were there for the taking? Were you watching a different game?
No disrespect but this was almost identical to the Wet Sham game last week (but closer) - we gave up a lot of possession in midfield but gave away very few clear-cut chances. Almost all of your dangerous chances came from your late game flurry of free kicks, whereas we had more than a few chances to take the game. You can thak Edwin and Pav that you left with anything because Bentley (twice) and Thud could easily have won it for us.
And the Ronaldo kick - was it just me who looked at that and thought back to Beckham at the World Cup?
That kid at RB, Rafael, was certainly showing some class, had the pace to cause Lennon some problems for a change, but much like Bale at the mo, he looks better going forward than at the back right now. It'd put money on him fixing that though.
All in all, draw was a fair result. If you'd nicked it at the end of a game where you hardly worked our keeper directly until the last 15-20 minutes it would have been gutting.

I just think if United had shown a bit more urgency from the start they could have beat Spurs. They never really got going untill Scholes came on to push things forward
Its an annoying trait that United pick up now and again trying to wow people with pass after pass while I'm shouting at them to just hit the shot!!
