Re: Royal Rumble Thread
They're telling some good little stories this year in the match this year - Rhodes v Rhodes was a great little moment, HHH/Kozlov, The Legacy.
Really strong rumble so far.
Edit: 21 men in so far and more than half the entrants are still in the ring. Unusual to say the least.

Just managed to see the recap on 411 so far... the Matt thing eh? Well, it can still lean to Matt vs Jeff for the title at WM I think, hence my Predictomania.. erm, prediction.

Re: Royal Rumble Thread
Great event overall thoroughly enjoyed it
Swagger v Hardy - *** 1/2
Phoenix v Melina - *
Cena v JBL - **1/2
Hardy v Edge - ****
Rumble Match - *** 1/2
Overall - *** 1/2
Disappointed no Christian but RVD was a bigger shock and the right call to make.
Both Hardys were excellent in their matches tonight and Cena/JBL delivered as much as you can hope for considering who's involved.
Worth seeing.

MVP, JTG, Mike Knox, Goldust, William Regal, Rob Van Dam, Dolph Ziggler, Jim Duggan were the unannounced ones. Chavo was meant to be in it, but obviously he got taken out in the WWE title match.

Re: Royal Rumble Thread
Seeing Hardy lose clean to Swagger, and all the close ups of his face afterward, I knew he was gonna have something to do with the Jeff match. I remember back in 07 when we were all certain Jericho was gonna return and didn't, and I figured the same thing would happen tonight.

Re: Royal Rumble Thread
oh dear, absolute failcakes. First PPV I have stayed up for since last years Wrestlemania, and pretty underwhelmed for doing so, WM was awesome, this was not.
The outcomes of the last three matches were FAR too obvious. You could see the ending of the Edge Hardy match after the end of the Matt Hardy match FFS, the bit with him sitting on the steps gave that away. The second Shawn stepped into the ring you knew he would superkick them both
As for the rumble, what a pile of blah, so Kozlov gets a small push throwing people out and eliminating Khali on his own, and then just gets thrown out by HHH, delightful. Far far too much downtime without eliminations, and just a same old same old feeling as far as the competetors went. From about number 20 (it was pretty obvious early on to be honest) it was clearly a lock that the final 4 would be Legacy vs a face. And when it came down to Legacy vs HHH it was quite obvious Priceless were going at the hands of HHH, but HHH was going at the hands of Orton. Given that, did it REALLY need to be HHH eliminated last, exactly what does he gain from ANOTHER Rumble where he is strongly booked, see his last few Rumble matches, 02, 06 and 08
nothing was downright crap, but nothing was particularly good, and given the Rumble is a hard PPV to mess up it is fairly worrying

Agreed. There was nothing new, no surprises, and while it was b y no means a bad rumble, it was very forgettable.
Also anyone notice how fat and out of shape RVD was?

exactly, and given that it was so obvious both in the storyline sense, (and in a smart sense) that Orton was going to win, what the hell was the point in wasting the runner up spot on HHH who would gain absolutely zero from it, its no wonder why they never make any stars, because they never give them the chance. Why not just throw a long shot face in that position

Re: Royal Rumble Thread
First PPV I've watched since last year's Rumble. I agree with the predicatability.
As soon as Matt came out, I knew he'd turn on Jeff. As soon as HBK came out, I knew he'd superkick Cena.
The Rumble itself was okay. But I'm a bit tired of always seeing the "usual gang" at the end - Big Show, Undertaker, Kane, HHH etc.

I'm guessing that RVD was a one shot return as they were in Michigan.

Yup, it was a one time gig, though I hope someone in charge was listening the the pop he got, along with a whole five minutes of RVD chanting when he got to the ring.

Re: Royal Rumble Thread
I've finally seen it! I thought it was very predictable, although I thought Jeff would retain and personally I was a bit shocked with the Matt turn. I guess after the ECW title match you had to wonder what they would do with him so I can see why a few weren't surprised.
Two elimination hell in a bird cage matches at NWO is a pretty shitty idea IMO, it takes a lot away from the rumble.
I agree that it was pointless for HHH to be the runner up, someone popular who had never held the world title or main evented should of been there, like Kingston.
