I know I said nothing too specific, but this is an obvious one...which film defined the decade for you. I've given, once again, a selection designed to cover many things - Action, epic, gore porn, comedy, animation....but you mauy have your own, from Frost/Nixon to Revenge of the Sith to Chicago to The Departed.

Pick one, or suggest your own, and remember - say why...

First things first, Gari, you may want to change the poll title to "Definitive Movie of the 00's", not the 90's Wink

As I posted in the other thread, it is again Lord of the Rings for me. I was anticipating that movie for so long, and it did not disappoint. I saw it 5 or 6 times in theaters, and who knows how many times at home. The epic scale of the film, not to mention the beauty of the cinematography, the beauty of the score, and some pretty good acting performances made for, in my opinion, the best film of the decade. However, in a close second was "There Will Be Blood." I believe this will become a Shawshank Redemption-esque film, where in a decade or so, people will see this movie for the masterpiece that it is.

SAW for me! the film was chilling and the ending was just so unexpected, never has a film made me go WTF like that before. Great film.

Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Transformers and also Anchorman are up there!! Ron Burgundy! such a legend.

    There will be Blood
    Grindhouse
    Dead Mans Soes
    Memories of Murder

And thats just to name what comes to mind. I honestly could not choose one film to be the decades best.

These last couple of years, the missus & I have seen so many films I honestly struggle to remember what I've seen. But I'd definitely include Saw (the first one mind, not the sequels that followed) in my list of films of the decade, as well as The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Bourne Trilogy, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Watchmen. There's probably many more I could add, but these are the first few that spring to mind (and/or can spot straight away in my DVD collection as I type this!)

The Dark knight, the movie was the shit, it got universal praise and broke every record in the book. Period!

Lord of the rings every day.

That trilogy was the ideal case of showing just what could be done. A movie series with elves, dwarves and litle people could have been visualy so so comical, and yet Jackson took it so seriously an used available technology to make it every bit as real and moody as and action/drama you care to mention. And with the Battle of Pellinor Fields just beating out Helms Deep by due of sheer scale, it was the pinnacle of the three.

And face it, the term "directors cut" was never really the same again!
