TNA took a cheap shot at World Wrestling Entertainment when comparing their Slammiversary travel packages to WWE's Wrestlemania travel packages. During a video clip hyping the TNA packages Mike Tenay and Don West, without mentioning WWE by name, said "the competition" wanted to keep the wrestlers away from the fans in Houston. "Do you think they stayed 45 miles away from Houston because it was more convenient for the wrestlers?" said Tenay. Well yeah! West added: "They stayed because it was more convenient for the wrestlers to stay away from the fans. What do we do? We stay with the fans." (credit: The Wrestling Globe Newsletter)

Find it hilarious that they think the get one better by taking a cheap shot, whereas the WWE don't mention them at all because they just don't need to.

Their champion retired 9 years ago, their main stable includes three guys who had their WWE careers ended due to age and/or injury, and their new big stable is headlined by one of Sky TV's Gladiators.

And it takes THIS to make them look stupid?

And WWE were better when they let Jim Cornette rant directly about WCW on their flagship TV show?

Anyway, on the TNA looking stupid front: Anyone else catch Epics this week? Nice format (despite some slightly annoying clipping) - but I couldn't believe the "main event" had Christian going over Rhino. Yeah, put over the ECW Champion! Great move.

Also, no slagging the British Invasion. Anything that gets Doug Williams on my TV is a good thing, dammit!

Hell yeah, that was tv gold!

TNA are trying to get WWE to mention them on their show and perhaps make casual fans aware that there is something else about. It's not going to happen and winding up Eric/Vince was so more effective in the 90s.

Doug Williams is on TNA?! May take them seriously now! shrug

This is actually Doug's second run in TNA. He worked the World X Cup last year, and now he's being pushed quite heavily in the tag division.

Not knocking the idea of the "British Invasion" stable - I've tended to create an all-brit stable on SvR most years because it had potential to push Brit starsand just replace the "Unamericans"...

...But for fecks sake, you can't ignore the fact that one of them spends his time playing Oblivion in Gladiators. Complete cartoon violence, half-drawn characters and pointless shows of strength - and then he goes and plays a tough guy on Sky TV for 3 months.

I don't watch Gladiators, so I can ignore that entirely. I didn't see it, so it didn't happen.

Matt Morgan was on American Gladiators, no one complains about that.

TNA are kind of following WCW by reacting to everything WWE does. I don't understand why they take "cheap shots" when they have awesome talent like, AJ and Joe.

    Anyone else agree?

WWE were the first to start the cheap shots at the competition, the only time it's ever worked was when DX invaded nitro.

I thought that, bro. But even though WWE did take a cheap shot, it was quite funny match. A real masterclass and it highlighted awesome wrestlling ability as well as great, medical treatment. Without a doubt Hukster vs. The Nachoman was one of the best matches of alltime.

    P.S. Only joking.

As Triple H said on the Monday Night Wars DVD - it really worked because WCW were too dumb to actually let them in and turn it in their own favour

It would have been interesting to see what they would of done with D-X in the building. Can't think of too much to be honest other than talk over their mikes and have Hall & Nash put down Hunter.

I meant it worked because of the match Bischoff announced for Slamborey '98.
