Game of the Year 2008

With, arguably, the last big game of 08' being released, Prince of Persia, 2008 is coming to a close with a number of great games being released this year. In your opinion, which is your favorite?

I got to play a few of the big titles for 360 this season, Fable II, Gears of War II, and Fallout 3, and I'm going to be biased because I've been enthralled with it since I laid eyes on it, but I've been totally loving Fallout 3. Not a truly innovative or perfect experience, but there's just so much in it tied in with the humor and great writing/acting, it's my favorite game of the year. I'm also a cheap bastard so I usually get games a year or two afterwards, for example this Christmas I asked for Assassin's Creed and Bioshock.

Red Alert 3 all the way

Toss up between GTA IV, FFVII: Crisis Core and Gears of War II for me, with the edge going to to GTA IV.

Fallout 3 my sisters and brothers.

Seconded for Fallout 3 with Fable 2 being the biggest letdown (imo) because it's Fable 1 with a new coat of paint.

Game of the year for me has got to be Grand Theft Auto 4. I know there is a lot of love for Fallout 3 and if a lot of sites gave it game of the year I would not be disappointed but GTA4 was the total package this year.

Its gameplay was overtly fun. It was challenging up until the very end, and the story was just amazing. A lot of the times I would find myself actually caring if characters liked me or not and it killed me when I decided to kill Dwayne over Playboy but then I had all the money I needed for rocket launchers

Metal Gear Solid is a game that I think is the game of the year for the followers of the series but for someone just jumping into the MGS world they will feel left out and neglected. I have never been a fan of MGS's gameplay myself but I always trudged my way through it and this year was no different. If there was an award for Most Epic Final Fight though this would win.
