What did everyone think of it now 7 years on?

Smash is also used as a source on it on Wiki!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Invasion_(professional_wrestling)#cite_note-InvasionCriticism-32

Even though I was a mark at the time I really didn't like the team lineups. Wanted to see Goldberg, Flair and Sting in Team WCW, especially as the former 2 appeared later on.

And also Scotty Steiner when he wasn't injured, granted he wasnt awesome in ring, but would have been a big name for the Alliance, when he did come to WWE they fucked it up

Before Steiner started inhaling kilograms of steroids he was on a par with Benoit for technical wrestling.

as I have said many a times before, the PPV would have been fine (in that it was always going to draw monstrous dollar) if the big names that were introduced over the next 18 months- Hogan, Nash, Hall, Flair, Steiner, Goldberg et al were then introduced. The big (granted crap) matches they could have run would have just printed dollar bills

I think that they could have done better if they had even brought in one of the biggest names that they ended up bringing in later- Eric Bishoff....

He was the face of WCW. The other thing that they could have easily done to compensate for the lack of big names, would have been to just use some of the former WCW talent that were on the WWE's roster at the time. Names like the Radicalz, Big Show, Cactus Jack, and others could have filled in slots nicely without needing too much explanation.

And as for the Big guns argument, the NWO reformed at a PPV and at the following Smackdown Austin was outsmarting and beating all three of them up. So much for taking over. Rolling Eyes

Even better, the man instantly recognisable as WCW through and through, Ric Flair, appeared AFTER the invasion angle was over.

    How bloody stupid was that?

The WWE's version of the NWO was just Vince Mchmahon making it into a joke for his own personal pleasure, as it was something he didnt create which was a massive success so he wanted to turn it into a joke, which he did having Austin, Rock and others make them look like jobbers week in week out.

the McMahon ego rub of it killed it.

As has been said a billion times before, why the hell should anyone have cared about another bout of Vince vs Shane & Steph again?

Yes they needed an excuse to get on to WWF, but with the Heyman mole thing they used a perfectly good explanation anyway.

You could have just had Bischoff set a challenge to WWF which Vince wanting to keep face accepted

Despite the lack of stars in WCW's roster, the InVasion could have been so sweet.

But in the end, you the fans fucked it all up. You fucked it up by booing Shane's WCW and cheering the WWF stars.

You should have cheered WCW (as they wanted you to) so Vince could have made them strong. But no, you told Vince that you were on WWF's side, so he had them annihilate the team you despised.

You buffoons. Hang your heads in shame.
