Did anyone see the Elite XC show then? For those that don't know, Kimbo Slice was due to fight Ken Shamrock last night but after getting cut in training Shamrock could not get a doctor to sanction him to fight. As the show was going on there were last minute attempts to put together Kimbo vs Frank Shamrock or Seth Petruzelli. In the end Kimbo agreed to fight Petruzelli and was subsequently knocked out in 14 seconds. This was an extremely important show for Eilte XC since they are hemorrhaging money right now and needed a strong showing for CBS to agree to buy them out. I haven't seen the show, just wondering if anyone on here saw it and what they think about it.

Re: Elite XC Disaster
It sounded a mess alright. I was looking forward to hearing what happened with Ken.
Is Kimbo just not disiplined enough for MMA?

Re: Elite XC Disaster
I watched it. The Kimbo fight was a shocker!!! 14 seconds that big guy didn't know what hit him and he was pissed about it.
Gina Carano and Kelly Kobold had a great fight.
It wasn't an awful show.
Looks like Tito Ortiz will be joining the EliteXc roster.

Re: Elite XC Disaster
I don't know if he's not disciplined enough for it, it's just that he's really not all that good at it. He made his name as an underground bare knuckle fighter and now he's training properly but he's just so far behind the curve at this point. He's in the position where his media profile is so far above his actual talent level and experience that it was always a question of when not if he would get exposed. You can hardly blame Elite XC for pushing him but the fact was they could only feed him cans for so long. Petruzelli got cut by the UFC and he's hardly a top level fighter as well.

I read the Cyborg fight was supposed to be very good as well but they only had time to show clips. Pity because Cyborg and Carano is supposed to be next.

Yeah, the Cyborg fight was on the undercard and wasn't televised, but just from the highlights they did show it looked pretty brutal.
Carano/Cyborg should be sweet. Both are 6-0 now I believe.

Re: Elite XC Disaster
This is truly the kind of thing that could kill the EliteXC group now. Gina Carano vs Cris Cyborg should be what they try to build around for their next show in my opnion, since they have now pretty much lost Kimbo Slice as a draw...

Re: Elite XC Disaster
I missed it, but I've just seen the Kimbo fight on YouTube.
He's there for the novelty value, fighting favorites like Ken Shamrock at the end of his career is one thing, but he's been shown up by fighting an average fighter and getting beaten easily. Doesn't do much for for EliteXC and pretty much finishes Kimbo as a decent draw.

Kimbo was always going to lose when stepped up and fought someone competent.
