The reason for the releases is said to be an effort to freshen up the undercard roster by replacing talent that has been with the company for an extended period of time. The plan is to bring in some new performers to replace them. There is no heat with either Williams or Rock, and the feeling is that both could be back with the company down the line. Other releases are expected.
I'm sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous! How can they justify giving time and money to washed up ex-WWE and WCW workers like Kip James and Kevin Nash while releasing, to all extents and purposes, home grown talent like Williams who they could, you know, push into a position that his talent deserves.
If they got over this obsession with the upper-midcarders of yester-year and started building up their own homegrown talent they could offer a genuine alternative to McMahonland and the conveyor belt of identikit second-gen workers.
There is a place for people like the Dudleys, Booker T and Scott Steiner but that place should be the elevation of talent not only putting people over but putting them over the right way.
