Official ROH discussion thread

Post  Lex on Sat Oct 04, 2008 8:38 pm

Thought I would start an all purpose ROH thread where people can talk about anything to do with ROH.

Big ROH news this week is that LAX are going to be replacing the MCMGs on the next run of ROH shows, including a dream match against the Briscoes - now there is a must-buy DVD if ever I've heard of one!

Yeah, I heard about the LAX replacement. As bad as it is to not have MCMG, it's great news to have Homicide & Hernandez back in ROH.

The Machine Guns are in a bit of a weird position with ROH these days though. They've been used enough times that they've had all their dream matches (vs. Briscoes, Steen/Generico, Danielson/Aries) and so needed to get used in more regular storylines to not get stale. And they were starting to do this with Austin Arie and his feud with Jimmy Jacobs, but ultimately ROH can't rely on TNA not pulling them off shows on a whim, like this, and so they can never be used as anything more than a special attraction. At least with LAX they are fresh enough that they can be used as a one-off special attraction.

Well TNA needs to realize that ROH is an ally not an enemy like the WWEvil.

Hell I say let some of the guys go into ROH and set up some two-way street. Hell you could get Constinoli and Nigel to help Joe out with the Old-Timers.

The ROH Legend Is Back
Monday, October 27, 2008

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Samoa Joe will make his long awaited return to Ring of Honor on Saturday, November 22nd as a part of the ROH "Rising Above" PPV taping in Chicago Ridge, IL. Joe, who last wrestled for Ring of Honor on March 4th, 2007 in Liverpool, England will be in a non PPV main event match in Chicago.

Samoa Joe took the ROH belt and turned it into one of the most respected World Titles anywhere in professional wrestling during his 21 month title reign. He successfully defended the title in the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Joe's title reign brought prestige and honor to the championship which is maintained to this day.

Besides the return of Samoa Joe, the following grudge matches have already been announced for this historic event. Nigel McGuinness (if still champion) will defend the ROH World Title against Bryan Danielson and Austin Aries battles Jimmy Jacobs in an "I Quit" Match to end their long running feud.

Be a part of history when Samoa Joe returns to Ring of Honor at the Chicago Ridge Park District, 9807 Sayre Ave, Chicago Ridge, IL 60415. Tickets are now on sale for this event at www.rohwrestling.com.

There are no plans at the moment. Management fell out with Alex Shane who helped promote the last set of shows. Hopefully with the change in managment this week though, they might look at coming back over to the UK in 2008.

Doubt they'll organise, promote, sell tickets for and run a UK show within 2 months.

Just got my tickets to the show in Houston Texas, the weekend of Wrestlemania. ROH then Hall of Fame, best weekend ever.
