What are you reading?

Post  IOV on Fri Jan 23, 2009 9:43 pm

I know there was a book thread here somewhere but i cant find it so heres a new one.......untill someone makes a cunt of me by bringing the old one to my attention Evil or Very Mad

I've just finished reading John Grishams The Appeal, its a really good read about a small time law firms case against a large chemical company, Grisham has got the law thrillers down by now and this one is agood example of him doing it right.

Just started a trilogy of books about the troubles in Northern Ireland called The Dirty War, The Shankhill Butchers and Stone Cold, I'm only on book one at the minute but its really interesting its about the British and Irish goverments using the paramilitaries for their own gain and the double and triple agents that were rife in the early days of the recent troubles (1968 onwards. The ting must be 2 thousand pages though its very fucking daunting

I too have just finished reading Watchmen & am undecided to either start The Colour Of Magic by Terry Pratchett or start re-reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

Gazza's book I found to be very self pitying. Nothing was ever his fault. Was an ok read, but not a patch on either Paul McGrath's or Tony Adams's IMO.

Currently reading Slash - It may seem excessive, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Great read, but how in the name of shit is he not dead? Shocked

I read that, it's a pussy cat compared to The Dirt by Motley Crue!

In the book I think he's too nice to Axel for legal reasons (more to do with the hassle of them than financial reasons) which takes a bit of a shine off of it.

I don't think there's too much self pity in the Gazza book, he admits to doing really stupid things but it's begger's belief why he didn't get any help sooner.

Trying to get into Gulliver's Travels, not really finding it easy to do so at the minute. Just finished Peter Shilton's book which is good, skipped over a lot though for someone who had scrapbooks of his career, pretty good read though for a modern legend of the game.

Curious Incident... is a cracking book, his follow-up "A Spot of Bother" is a good read too if you're looking for one for afterwards.

Got quite a few books for my birthday a couple of weeks ago so I'm set for now but I'll probably give that a look when I get through them all.
