You know we would have been discussing these all summer anyway. Do you think your team improved in the transfer window, or did you buy a bunch of complete Darren Bents?
I'll start
Tottenham
Heurelhio Gomez - Kind of Grobelaar like in his eccentricity at times, but, as he showed tonight, is generally a very good and very mobile shot stopper. Did I hear Setanta post-match comparing him to Booby Mimms though? Most of the goals we've conceded so far this term have been due to terrible marking or unfortunate deflections or rebounds. Could well prove to be worth the money once our back four get settled.
Vedran Corluka - Don't care how good he is, when you need a big money striker, spending over £8 million on a reserve right back is a mistake. He'll only be worth the money if the plan is to move him to CB to cover King and Woody when injured, because Dawson is becoming more of a liability as this slump continues. He's class with King but I just don't trust him without him.
Luca Modric - Has talent, just haven't seen him yet. Hope the fans give him more time, but seemed to cry off when the going got tough tonight. If he wasn't badly injured, he'll have to give 110% for the next few games to keep the fans on his side.
David Bentley - I've always had some reservations about him. Over-hyped, then he showed his character over the England situation last year. But of all the players we brought in, has impressed most. We're morebalanced and more incisive whe he's on. He and Lennon on the wings has been one of the best parts of our play the last four games.
Giovani Dos Santos - Has yet to show why he was so well rated, but he's young, he's beter than Boateng and he's going to work well as one of five rotated attacking midfielders.
Frazier Campbell - Hasn't played yet, and I don't see the point in progressing a player for Man Utd when we have the equally impressive Tomas Peckardt and we just loan him out. Why not keep TP and make United pay more? No more money and we pull the deal, and they've lost out by chasing only him.
Roman Pavluychenko - Hasn't played yet either. Seriously. Was totally anonymous against Villa. He's also tainted with being "the Russian we COULD get". Given who we sold, he's got maybe three games to start scoring before the fans turn on him.
