BNP to be on Question Time.

So what's your view?

For those who aren't British or are stupid, the BNP are a right wing party who have gained 2 seats in the European Parliament. On Thursday their leader Nick Griffin is due to appear on Question time where he will answer questions from the audience and from other members of parliament, most notably Jack Straw the current Secretary of State for Justice and former Foreign and Home Secretary.

This week the BNP have had to change their constitution which only allowed white members.


My view? They were democratically elected so they deserve to speak. Jack Straw is a very intelligent man and hopefully he'll show the party up for what it truly is. I hope not too much time is wasted on their (BNP's) immigration policy as we all know what that is already, sadly I don't think that will be the case.

I voted yes for a totally different reason.

They cant be an illegal party as they have every right to exist and they, as you mention, stay just inside the rules in public whilst at the core being utterly reprehensible barstards. Because of this they have drawn in disillusioned people who agree with the gist of their policies - protect and prioritise the country and its people - without them really having to involve themselves in how that would be achieved - racism, discrimination and xenophobic nationalism with violent undertones.

I'd rather they faded away and died quietly in a corner, but this appearance is just fuelling the publicity with forseeable negativity towards them which they will claim was staged by the BBC and the other parties to make them look bad.

But I said yes because they aren't going to fade away. Constitutionally they are allowed to speak, so if they're going to do so then let it be in an environment like this, a respected and highly regarded show, where they will be torn to shreds and shown to be the utter wankers that they really are.

Rallys alone play into their favour - people there want to hear what they say, but put them in an environment where their supporters will NOT be there to back them up and watch them get picked apart.

And God forbid Clegg pulls it off - then the major parties will all know what he's made of and will finally start to take action to cut them off...take the positive messages people want to hear but promise to action them without resorting to the negative tactics and watch their fringe members drift back to mainstream acceptable politics.

I would like to see them destroyed by intellectual debate, but I think this will just be an embarrassing circus.

They should fuck off back where they came from.

I voted right, they are obviously very bright people to be in this position although their general message is shit. If they are as stupid as people think they will be shown up

Well, they...

- Want immigration stopped and people not born in the UK or of non-white descent to, as the phrase goes, "fuck off back whare they came from"

- Consider non-white brits and inter-racial relationships as bad as the immigrants they ae looking to get rid of

- Deny the holocaust ever happened

...just for a few key themes to their policies, all under the guys of "protecting the british people", so I think it would be more apropos to call them racist bastards, personally

And apparently Clegg has complained he was demonised before the appearance - ah diddums...

Hang on Garibaldi lets get it right. He now admits the holocaust happened and it's not his fault that he can't remember why he did deny it and it certainly has nothing to do with it being ilegal for European MPs to deny it.

I watched the whole show and I thought it was handled really badly, instead of asking the guy serious questions everyone took a pot shot or shouted when he tried to answer. Jack Straw was one of the main culprits trying snidy little quips to make himself look smart while avoiding any questions that were aimed at him and his party. A lady was interviewed on the news, just a random woman on the street and she said she sympathised with Griffin and the BNP for how they were treated on the show and I'm sure there are others that felt the same.

If the idea was to show Griffin and his party for what they are I think it failed

How can you sympathised with them? You feel sorry for him because he can't remember why he used to deny the holocaust?

I dont know how you would sympathise with them but the show had swayed a woman of 60, maybe not to be a racist xenophobic monster but it made her consider their party and I'm sure others felt the same
