not many are found dead from multiple gun shot wounds. some players are almost like wrestlers in that they can die fairly young from heart problems like reggie white for example. but i can only think of 2 players murdered in the past 10 years, him and sean taylor who was shot during a break in at his house.

Still two murders is a lot I guess.

I think the NFL and wrestling go hand-in-hand that there's a lot of problems after players/wrestlers' careers conclude. I'd fathom a guess that an average NFL player doesn't have a high lifespan due to the violent nature of the sport. Also, you might only get a decade out of your career which usually results in a banged up player at a younger-than-normal retirement age with no other skills/job and a lot of cash.

That's a sweeping generalization, but it's not that shocking to see a player die at a younger age, except homicide, which isn't too commonplace. Sean Taylor mentioned before was an example, and there's been players like Richard Collier, Jaguar's OT, last year who's career was shortened from being shot.
