Looks like the credit crunch has finally reached Orlando...

PW Insider.com wrote:- TNA has released Lance Rock/Hoyt.

    - At tonight's TNA Impact tapings, Petey Williams lost a "Loser Leaves Town Match," and that will be his last match with the company as he is being released from his contract.

    - More releases are expected.

Lance Hoyt was never going to set the world on fire but Petey Williams? Bit surprised by that one to be honest.

I'm surprised they released Petey Williams. Doesn't bode too well for any X division guys who aren't in their immediate plans.

Yeah, Hoyt was predictable. Never thought they'd put Williams on the release list.
    To WWE anyone?
WWE may send some feelers towards Williams but that would possibly mean he'd have to give up the Canadian Destroyer.

Very shocked at Petey Williams being released i would love to see him with WWE but he would lose half his arsenal and be jobbed out to Mike Knox every week. Unless Rey took an interest and got him signed as a smaller guy he could have a match with ala Low Ki.

They dropped the ball with Hoyt as well, remember in the early days of Impact this guy had a LOT of fans including a fanatical little crowd that turned up every week but he just got lost in the shuffle i guess.

PW Insider.com wrote:As reported yesterday, TNA has released both Lance Rock and Petey Williams. The reason for the releases is said to be an effort to freshen up the undercard roster by replacing talent that has been with the company for an extended period of time. The plan is to bring in some new performers to replace them. There is no heat with either Williams or Rock, and the feeling is that both could be back with the company down the line. Other releases are expected.

I'm sorry but that's absolutely ridiculous! How can they justify giving time and money to washed up ex-WWE and WCW workers like Kip James and Kevin Nash while releasing, to all extents and purposes, home grown talent like Williams who they could, you know, push into a position that his talent deserves.

If they got over this obsession with the upper-midcarders of yester-year and started building up their own homegrown talent they could offer a genuine alternative to McMahonland and the conveyor belt of identikit second-gen workers.

There is a place for people like the Dudleys, Booker T and Scott Steiner but that place should be the elevation of talent not only putting people over but putting them over the right way.

The loser leaves town was a tag match. Seems like Eric Young may be on the out aswell.

Williams is already accepting indy bookings.

    - TNA has also released Jimmy Rave.

    - While there have been some rumors, Eric Young has not been cut from the roster.

    - As Petey Williams left Orlando this morning, he was sporting a new look, having shaved his head and also shaving his goatee off.

PWInside.com wrote:Sonjay Dutt is done with TNA. The two sides were trying to come to terms on a new deal, and when they couldn't, Dutt opted to leave the promotion.

As of last week, TNA was still working on plans for Dutt, so they did not expect him to leave. Also, Dutt was essentially the face of TNA in India, where Impact had done very well on TV.

Dutt's profile has been removed from TNAwrestling.com, and as of now, there is no word on the future of SoCal Val, who had been Dutt's on air valet and love interest.

    Another one bites the dust.

Petey Williams would be a decent addition for ECW. He wouldnt cost a great deal to have on the wage bill you would imagine and the roster needs filled out a bit more. They only have like 14 guys on there.

And yeah, TNA's obsession with the older guys is astounding. They had a product that people wanted to watch as it was different and the matches were generally very good. Now it is a who's who of yesterday.

It is sad. Crying or Very sad

Just watched Petey's final match this evening. Really good for the time they got, although it would have been nice to see the Destroyer one last time on the way out. Hope he will be on the way to ECW.

Also can't believe they are folding the MEM before the Frontline stop looking like bitches. What a fucking joke.
