Great idea for a ppv, but not for the one before Wrestlemania IMO.

    I agree completely.

Since the traditional Survivor Series matches in positions of importance are a thing of the past, surely the Elimination Chamber would be better fitted to that PPV? The Survivor winnning the title by beating a Series of other men...

Would make the results slightly less transparent and allow them to really shake things up by having an unlikely winner and still have plenty of time to get the belt back off them before Wrestlemania.

That and having two gimmick PPVs immediately after one another ain't good IMO.

I prefered the idea of the Elimination Chamber being PPV specific to New Years Revolution. No Way Out doesn't really need to be a gimmick PPV given that it is the LAST STOP TO WRESTLEMANIA and all that garbage. And it also sort of kills off any 'anyone could win' sort of feeling about the match (which they was trying to use in the Championship Scramble) as there is absolutely no chance at all Kofi or Knox are going to win it whatsoever with Wrestlemania being a month away

I am however looking forward to this, as last years Elimination Chambers was where the gimmick FINALLY hit the money

the first one was a tad dull but had the novelty of it

the second one was way way too quick- extremely watchable due to the Goldberg stuff, but far too throwaway for the second chamber match

the third one was built entirely around the possibility of a HHH/Batista confrontation which never happened. So so stuff but completely unforgettable

the fourth one was blah (yes Edge won the title after etc etc) and was rendered completely pointless when Carlito and Chris Masters' pushes were thrown down the drain a few months later

Not seen the ECW one but by all accounts it was crap, although Heymans 'get Big Show out first' booking idea would have made it interesting at least

however last year, the Raw one was very good with some very memorable spots, and a hot HHH /Hardy ending

the Smackdown one was awesome (I'd go as far as saying my match of the year out of the few I have seen) and the duds in it were booked superbly

The only thing I remember about the 2nd one was that Triple H was in such bad shape that he couldn't hit a single wrestling move (or indeed walk properly)... and he still won the match.

So of course he went over.

I think it'll be a good show, and the Smackdown chamber match should be really good, I'd think. The Raw one will be all right, I'd love to see what Rey and Kofi could do inside of it.

Shane O Mac vs. Orton no-holds-barred should be pretty good, I'd say.

But I don't really wanna see that JBL/HBK storyline end so fast, if it does end, anyway. I thought Wrestlemania would of been a perfect time for their feud-finishing match, but I guess they might be doing this early to possibly have HBK/Undertaker at Mania? Who knows.

I don't know if I'd pay for this PPV, but if a friend is ordering it, I might go see it.

They still can have the blowoff if JBL wins and he gives HBK the chance to win his freedom vs his career or something.

you had combinations of the Smackdown 6 ripping it up in late 2002, Brock generally bought the dullness, who can remember one televised thing he did during this period? (first title reign)

Smackdown also had the cruisers (around and just after the Smackdown 6 era), Matt Hardy, John Cena, but still a hell of a lot of suckitude.

Raw was pretty much down to Booker T/ Goldust and Nowinski as far as anything being vaguely entertaining, and was REALLY REALLY bad. Smackdown did to its credit (and only really in the Heyman era, but I liked the MAIN EVENT bollocks they did throughout 03) put on decent matches, if the show itself was pretty naff

I thought the Big Show was amazing during the Smackdown 6 period and was as good a monster heel I have ever seen. I remember vividly him using the ring steps to chokeslam Brock through the announce table and every week he would do something that made him look like a massive threat, its just a pity he had been so watered down before that point that it didnt really mean anything to a lot of fans

The way he decimated the smaller wrestlers like Spike Dudley was fun to watch. I also liked the whole "Can Brock F5 The Big Show?" story, which he did at Survivor Series.

the entire 2002/2003/smackdown 6/brock stuff is worth its own thread.

I think they did a good job with the Big Show after his Smackdown move, the problem was, when he first moved (and subsequently won the title) he had been treated as a joke, appearing on no PPVs, jobbing left right and centre. He lost clean on Raw to Jeff Hardy iirc who was going absolutely nowhere, yet a few weeks later we have to buy him beating the man given the biggest push ever for the title at MSG. I never bought the 'Big Show was a lame duck challenger who only got the belt because he injured him on a house show' crap as if that was a case surely they would have just thrown a third man in there for a triple threat

Apart from Finlay and Swagger, which was slowed down for obvious reasons, that was fucking awesome! Didn't think the RAW chamber would come anywhere near topping the SD! one but it did. Shane and Orton was excellent too. He really nailed the McMahoninator!

I think it might be worth trying to work out points for correct entry/elimination for the other five. Maybe give points for people getting the correct placement with Kofi in, and also give points to anyone who had correct placements shifted one place due to Kofi.

For example, if someone picked Cena to be eliminated third, give them the points, and also if anyone had Cena to be eliminated fourth, but had Kofi eliminated before Cena, then give them the points there too.
