Re: xpert 11 thing
Nice one!
Sadly a team with an odd amount of teams makes the league a bit messy, with one team having a rest fixture and a team finishing the season before the rest. The cup is doable, 2 teams play an extra fixture or a group stage, if possible.
If we can get 1 more team to join the league will remain as smooth as it is now. The cup can have an extra round for 4 teams with the remaining 6 having a bye, or again a group stage if possible.
Any suggestions?!
Rooq?!

Good thought...as well as Rooq, try any of the folk that post in the Premiership and Championship and SPL threads, surely a few of might join up...would be cool to have a league of 12

With 12 teams we could have 2 leagues of 6, with 4 teams in the top league getting a bye.

The details are towards the start of this thread.
Sadly you will have to wait for the current season to end, but (I think) you can create a team now and enter that in to a public league and have a bit of a practise before the real thing.
Hector and The Ayatollah know more about this then me.
I think we can challenge each other to friendlies still, but watch out for Hector, he tries to take out your best player.

Re: xpert 11 thing
Yeah, 12 teams would be good in this so we could have 2 divisions and shorter seasons meaning our players would get better quicker! Sadly, any new players will need to wait for a new season to start, that could be a little while away if I remember rightly - there is no way of speeding this up short of disbanding the league and starting again. And I am not wanting to lose Darren Fleeting!
Also, any new teams will be a little behind in terms of player development and we wouldn need to decide whether to "boost" them or not.

Would also give us something extra to play for this season if the bottom two teams get dropped into the second division with the newcomers.
So we've got JK and Rooq on board - just need another two...
Plenty of time I suppose to try and recruit.

If we get 2 more members could they start a 4 team mini league whilst they wait for our season to end? And could this mini league be the official division 2, with the bottom 2 teams joining them next season?

There would be nothing to stop 4 newcomers setting up their own private league I don't think - but when they joined our's they would need to have new, different, teams.

Re: xpert 11 thing
While bored at work Dr Hellwig PhD decided to have a look at the upcoming fixtures for Week 3 of the Smashlives Premiership 2:
Wagon Wheels FC - Leith Hibernian
An interesting set of fixtures this week is clearly dominated by the first grudge match of the season as Leith Hibernian set-out to avenge their shock last day defeat to Wagon Wheels FC.
As all Smash-ites will recall Ayatollah's team sensational bricked it against Shaun's tough cookies resulting in MTW United sneaking in at the back door to clinch the title.
Both teams have had a good start and are currently the pace setters in the division occupying the top two slots.
Wagon Wheels, although two points behind, have arguably had the harder start with a narrow win over Harchester and a draw with The Funk You Hector to their name while the Hibees have overcome last season's basement boys FYAYS FC and Enid Blyton ICF.
Expect a highly bruising encounter with only the odd goal in it. Hellwig Prediction: Away Win.
Enid Blyton ICF - FYAYS FC
Speaking of last season's whipping boys, both the ICF and FYAYS have come under new management since the routings of last season and have turned their ships around as they prepare to compete in an intriguing first time match-up. Both teams managed to pick up three points against reigning champions MTW United and have progressed to the semis of the cup against more experienced challengers. Both teams seem evenly matched and with two of their early season rivals meeting in the game of the week, the winners of this tie are poised to take advantage and cut the gap at the top. Failure for either side is not an option. Both managers, however, are still relatively inexperienced - expect a tactical gaff to make all the difference. Hellwig Prediction: Home Win. (well I have to say that...)
Men In Black - MTW Utd
Last season's Cup Champions take on the league champions in a match that most would've expected to be at the top of the table rather than the bottom. Men in Black are not too far off the pace and are only sitting in sixth due to goal difference, a strong win here would be enough to put them back in the top half of the table at the expense of at least one of the teams above them. There's plenty for MTW Utd to play for too, a couple of draws in the Quarter Finals of the cup weren't enough to save their treble dreams as Mr Torrie Wilson's side slipped out on away goals - sandwiched between the two legs was a humiliating 4-0 drubbing to the usually defensive Enid Blyton ICF. Things appear to be in a bit of a freefall down Purgatory Road and the rot will have to be stopped soon if the reigning champions don't want to find themselves at risk of relegation. Prediction: Home Win.
the funk you hector - Harchester Rovers
On paper at least this is the least interesting tie for all but the clubs themselves. Hector's Harchester Rovers will be looking to build on last week's vital win over FYAYS in the league and try to forget their cup humiliation. The Funk You Hector just haven't got going at all despite a decent draw against Wagon Wheels FC in the league have not fired on all cylinders yet, a false position for both clubs? Possibly only time will tell but neither team will be happy with anything less than three points. Prediction: Score draw and misery all round.

Remember you can play the pools - costs 100,000 econs and the person who predicts most matches correct wins all the money.
And I think we should state now that if we do get another 4 teams in order that we can run 2 leagues, then the bottom 2 this season will be relegated into the lower league.

I know a guy who would be up for playing for sure. One slight draw back is that he's not a Smash member, just a guy who's been waiting for ages to get into a league.
Anybody got any thoughts on whether we should allow him to join?

The new season doesn't start until June. I think if we can't find a smash member to take a missing place then we bring him in. At the moment if we get him, Rooq and JK we will have an odd number of teams, so we still need to find new members.
Hector, how did you get such a great youth player? Was it luck or skill?

No No, we keep our seperate identity! And yeah, Sweatsock's friend could join I guess, it would probably be better if we kept membership amongst members of the site - so maybe Sweatsock could get his mate to join this here site?
And we do have till June to sort this anyway, would be a shame to disband the league to join up with someone else's or to let people in so I think we are as well waiting for Season 3 to start.

Re: xpert 11 thing
The 2 new managers are doing well in the Cup, I would say they are both favourite to make the final now and ensure a 3rd person wins a trophy after only 3 competitons - a good spread of winners
