Transfer Window
The transfer window has re-opened with a resounding clunk and all the major movers and shakers are looking to improve their squads.
Another key factor though is just who you can get rid of in the window. Which three players from your team's squad would you liked to see canned?
I'll go first for Rangers
1. Charlie Adam - Why he was given the nod against Celtic I'll never know, the play continually went down his channel despite his inability to control or pass the ball. Pity that Calderwood has left Forest, don't think anyone else is stupid enough to part with money for him.
2. Jean Claude Darcheville - Too old to play at this level anymore, you can never get a full 90 minutes out of him and his turn of pace has deserted him
3. Barry Ferguson - Highly unlikely this one I'll admit... we just don't play as well when Barry's in the team - demands too much of the ball and since he's came back from injury is unable to match his previous standards, too early to say he's finished but definitely beginning on his downward turn.

Re: Transfer Window
We've signed Deon FN Burton!!! May as well crack open the champaign now and celebrate promotion!
We're going to be getting rid of a few, Amdy Faye to Stoke (Please god!!) Luke Varney to Derby and will be listening to offers for anyone else.
No idea who we will buy, I doubt it will make a difference anyway. Roll on League one.

Hibs:
Andy McNeil: Whines he hasnt been given a fair crack at the goalies jersey, but has done himself no favours with some clangers in the past. Free him.
Thierry Gathuessi: Hasnt really done much at Hibs apart from stupid sendings off, crap anyway
Abdessalam Benjelloun: Moody little sod who's on the way out anyway, great 1st season, since then done nothing but moan and be lazy

Chris Killen: Some would argue that he hasn't really had a chance but any time he has started or had more than a fleeting appearance he's failed to impress.
Bobo Balde: Could have signed for Wolves an earned 28k a week but decided to sit on his arse at Celtic an earn an extra 2k a week. Typical of the modern footballer and one who won't be missed dueto the current form of Caldwell.
Lee Naylor: Had an oustanding first season and then his personal problems dragged him into a run of terrible performances followed by complete mediocrity. We badly need a new left back and Naylor needs the chance to go back south and reuild what could have been an international career.

Re: Transfer Window
With the way we operated in the last window, Newcastle will sell anyone of value to be replaced by someone half as good from little Dennis's book of contacts that only opens on the Spanish Pages. I'm really dreading this window. If His Imperial Shayness goes, he goes. We have 4 other Keepers at this club that are sensational (Harper, Krul, Fraser Foster & the Swedish lad from the u19's), so from a playing point of view, we can cope. What concerns me is the fact that someone who is within sight of our all time appearence record, who's turned down moves to other clubs for big money & has shown a frightning level of loyalty to this club is as sick of this shit as everyone of us on the terraces. No matter who we get, it's a sticking plaster over a bullet hole.

Harper etc may be very talented keepers but Given has made up for countless combinations of shit defenders in his time. He's been your one man defence for years.
I remember Arsenal playing you a few years back and Given practically playing us single handedly. The rest of your players might as well have stayed in Newcastle. Any other keeper and it would have been 8-1 not 1-1

Re: Transfer Window
Hell, there are times you've beaten US just because Given stopped us scoring whilst our keeper vanished for a bloody pedicure.
Anyway, going out of WHL....very few as Redknapp's already bemoaning the squad size. Staltieri's already been released, but I'd probably say:
Ricardo Rocha
Five CBs, Thud and Zok ahead of him.
Hossan Ghaly
Friday summed this one up - no way back. Bostock and Parrett can be used if needed.
Frazier Campbell
Because I think Fergie might recall him -not least because with Bent borderline fit, he may think he's weakening us for the cup ties. Pekhart is now back from loan, so whether we sign another striker or not, we've got more cover

I honestly recon Harper would have been in the running for the England squad had he played more regularly. Whilst he's now getting on a bit, we do have more waiting in the wings.
Tim Krul's still young, but more than capable of playing now if needed. He showed in Palermos a couple of season back what he can do.
Fraser Foster's been the youth/reserve keeper for a while & is now starting to bang on the door.
So whilst I really would hate to see Shay go & still think it sums up just how fecked up we are, if I ignore the sentiment, we could actually cope ok if the unthinkable were to happen.

No real surprises for us so far. Wenger has ruled out moves for just about everyone we've been linked to and Wilshire's signed a long term pro deal which is great news.

No doubt that Arshavin is talented but Arsenal will have to shell out big money and it is not what they really need urgently.
Defensive minded players are what they need. A centre back and a defensive mid of high quality and experience is what they need.

£3m for Boyd from Birmingham isn't bad. Yeah, he scores goals but has he ever done it in Europe or Old Firm games, or even at places like Pittodrie and Tynecastle?
If I was a Rangers fan *shudder* I'd be more pissed off with the rumours of Mendes going to Newcastle for £1.5m! I thought that was bull when I heard it but it's been reported on Sky Sports News!

The Mendes story is bollocks. Why would we sell him for £1.5m after spending £3m in the Summer? Utter tripe...unless there is a clause...which wouldnt shock me.
Boyd will be gone this time tomorrow. I back Walter Smith all the way but I am losing faith here. Smith has gone soft.

Loved Jermain's reception at the Lane.
And I'm interested to see what happens with the Appiah trial - could be a clinical signing for Harry - Free until the close of the season.
And JK, Arshavin = £20 mil + ...can your lot afford that without the selling these days?

It's David Murray mate. Rangers are in very bad financial shape. They've failed to trigger even the smallest bonus payment from the JJB deal because they didn't qualify for Europe and with Cetic 5 points clear at the halfway point Murray is trying to aleviate the damage caused by any further failures domestically and in Europe by cashing in on some assets.

Would you be happy if your club were supposedly about to spend £20m on an unproven player with what is clearly a massive ego and who plays in a position you don't need to reinforce?
I feel you're just picking on me for the sake of picking on me or because you're compensating for something else...

Re: Transfer Window
How is he unproven?
Anyone i have heard run the guy down say he only had 2 or 3 good games last year when really he was instrumental in Zenit winning the Uefa cup last year and played a big part in helping Russia to the European Championships and had a good few games at the championships himself. I remember him being brilliant in the Champions League game against Real Madrid as well a few months back, granted i dont watch him play week in week out but when i have seen him he has been impressive
Most supporters would be happy with a player of his caliber being mentioned in the same breath as their club but not you
And what in your opinion am i trying to compensate for?

I don't know, maybe your father hates you or you get bullied at school... I'm not a psychiatrist. It just seems like every time I say anything negative, no matter how justified, you or Show Stealer pop up.
Arse-havin just comes across as an irritable egotistical money and attention seeking scrotum zit who had one good year and is now being heralded as the 2nd coming of Pele. One year does not make a player, just ask Chris Sutton, Alex Manninger or Jose Reyes. In addition, it's £20m that could go on a central defender/box to box midfielder/holding midfielder, all of which we need more than yet another attacking midfielder.

He's been sounded out for big things in Russia for years it just never seemed to happen for him but last year it clicked maybe you should give the guy a chance or is that to alien a concept to you?
You say SS and i jump on you when you make a negative opinion?
I cant speak for the Shoestealer cause i dont know the guy but to me you are the one of the most negative people i have ever met try lightening up a bit for fuck sake. Also i know i do target you at times because you can say the most idiotic things i remember you slating Sunderland because they didnt go toe to toe with Arsenal at the Stadium of Light instead they adopted the wise tactic of hitting them on the break, anyone else would see this as a smart move by Keane and Sunderland you looked down your nose at it. You come out with little wise cracks about Religion and the Catholic Church, it doesnt make you smart it makes you as ignorant as the bible bashers who try and push their agenda down everyones throat
I didnt think i had a problem with you untill i started that but you know what?................I still dont
And just so you know i left school a long time ago and me and the old man get along fine thanks for the concern though

I target you because you say stupid things like Chris Sutton only had one good year.
I will also continue to remind you to me most respectful when you make smart arse comments about Christianity. For the record, I am also an atheist.
I also agree about your negativity. My club is going to be playing in league one next season and has no money to spend, even though 2 seasons ago we were in the premiership. Yet you are more negative then me.
I have nothing to compensate for, but thanks for the concern.

Re: Transfer Window
I am never a smart arse about Christianity, i.e. the teachings of Jesus, I am a smart ass about the way the various denominations have twisted it to suit its own ends. The Catholic Church, for example, how can you respect a group led by a man who equates defeating climate change with wiping out homosexuals? Christianity, i.e. what Jesus taught according to the Bible about relating to eachother, is completely un-mockable as far as I'm concerned.
And Chris Sutton DID have one standout year before his big money transfer to Chelsea, where he bombed. Admittedly he had a few good ones prior to that and good ones after that during his time in Scotland too, but nothing that made him worth the £10m price tag. My point is that it's a bad idea to spend big money on a player who's only had one standout year. Wenger did it with Reyes after he tore up the Spanish Primera and look how well that turned out.

Re: Transfer Window
I'm with Sweatsock on this one. Sutton was sensational for a while. He flopped a Chelski because they didn't play the same system as Blackburn, Norwich & Celtic where he smashed them in. Sutton liked having a strike partner, with plenty of crosses from wide men. Chelski used him as a target man for long balls which wasn't his game.
As for Mendes, I don't think he can transfer to Newcastle can he? He's been registered at Pompey & Rangers, which would prevent him playing for a 3rd club this season.
